This sweet little town that I have made so many posts on
is where I was born -- and I have so many memories of a wonderful childhood
the beach and the country -- when I lived there the coal pits were in full gear --
it was the life blood of the economy and I would see the miners at the end of
their shifts running down the Brows -- eager to get home covered in coal dust


the pit was one mile down and the coal face three miles out under the Solway
Firth -- that runs up between England and Scotland

Whitehaven is a historians paradise and as I think of myself as a amature
historian I plan to use this blog to express my account of my history and the
larger picture of Whitehaven and the role it played in the grand plan of the
world -- I have a few blogs floating around the blogoshere -- lost to me for various
reasons -- lost passwords -- change of computers -- change of digs -- whatever
but I am glad that Blogger doesn't take them down or let anyone else take them
over -- so for now they are floating around with some interesting snippets on them

I keep hoping I will come across them and so I always check out a couple of blogs each
time I go on line and I find some pretty interesting stuff in this community --

most folks are doing some very interesting stuff and there are some great layouts and formats
even with the new improved access into blogger and the ease of posting pix and format there
are some problems with the wrapping -- which causes problems about the way the lines
go up -- which is not a minor issue -- and I would like a better selection of font faces --
that's tops on my wish list -- blog wise --

we have the electricians in the kitchen today running new lines to the box -- the landlord
is upgrading the juice ! More rent I suspect -- I hope people are aware about the situation
at the Sheffield on 57th street and what is going on there -- Swig Realty bought the Sheffield
which is the size of a small village -- over 800 apartments -- it has so far been the biggest
real estate deal in New york City $545million and the new landlord has tried to do the renovations
with some of the tenants -- rent stabilized tenants still in the building and Swig has done some
unbelievable things -- tenants paying premium rents have been tormented beyond --
