This and That. . .
the clocks have gone forward, we have more day light at the end of the work day --
it feels better -- we need more light and tomorrow is St.Paddy's day, the first day
of spring is around the corner, and today in New York, we have a nice snow storm.
Six inches has been predicted.

Big fluffy flakes and its coming down very fast -- the march on the Pentagon
tomorrow as well as St.Paddy's day -- a drink and a walk
I am not going because I have to work,
Beverly, would work for me, she has a catering class --

the last time I was in Washington, January 27th '07 for a march, one of many over the time of
this administration, it was a beautiful spring like day and we had a wonderful time,
great speakers, and a creative march and a great gathering on the Mall -- this government will eventually fall!
yes it will -- I predict with a splat! I have never seen in my whole life, such a scummy group that
are holding onto power outside of a banana republic -- it certainly is a world class scandal --

A Real Question?
Valerie Plame is speaking at the hearing right now now and Lynn Westmoreland R-Georgia
is pinning the donkey on her and is drawing a political line of political alignment,
he got her to admit she was a democrat ! -- but her husband was a Republican!

Have you have you ever been a democrat Ms.Plame? said McCarthy -- Oh! sorry he's dead!

The depths and the magnitude of the issue, and this joker asks about her political affiliation!

Waxman made it very clear that it is not important what one's political persuasion is.
There is no place for politics for career civil servants.
Unless of course you are using it to strong arm others for political gain.

Eleanor Holmes Norton, is asking a smart question, "Why would or should
these people ( Rove,Cheney et al) know the name of an operative?" unless
of course her husband wrote an oped piece in the New York Times proving the prez
was lying in the State of the Union speech? With his 16 little words!
Why! would anyone need to know.

The most serious part of all of this debacle is the untold damage that has been done
to this countries security is unprecedented -- "whole networks, entire frameworks destroyed,"
from the President down the traitors should be routed out and tried in the highest court in the land
Plame just agreed that this matter is an egregious breech of security.

She is very composed, calm, smart and beautiful , wow the best that America
can offer -- I for one am very proud of her -- I do not agree with all the covert
stuff -- its all about deceit and deception -- and the worst of human nature!

What came first the chicken. . .

and Victoria Toesing, Former Chief Council, Senate Intell. Cmt. 1981-'84
went there to make trouble and cast oil on the water by discrediting, Valerie Plame --
Toesing, may have committed perjury, Waxman told her he was
leaving the record open while he checked some of her facts!
Including the truth about her age. She lied about her age? --

Q. "Do you still maintain she was not a covert agent -- did you receive information
from the CIA or Valerie Plame that she was not a covert agent"

A. "No, I did not speak to either."

Yet, Victoria Toesing, still insisted Valerie Plame was not a covert agent.

A Real Spy --
Here are more than a couple of good books I have read over time,
about spies and spying --

Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton 1821-1890,
a fascinating man, life and career, he spoke 28 or so languages, its more than worth a read,
the Edward Rice biography, Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton, soldier, spy,
swordsman, linguist, proto-anthropologist,adventurer, explorer, erotosist,
prolific writer and poet, seeker after hidden gnosis

In India and the East as a soldier and spy for the East India Company, his exploits
in Arabia and his explorations in Africa.

Burton immersed himself in Eastern languages, customs, religions and thought
so that he thought he could easily pass himself off as a native. Burton's most famous exploits - the pilgrimage
to Mecca disguised as an Arab, penetrated the sacred and forbidden city of Harar in East Africa,

and he was the first European to do that, his explorations of Central Africa, searching for the source
of the Nile, and his wanderings in the Sind and participation in the "Great Game."

Burton's greatest literary achievements, is the wonderfully annotated translation of the Arabian Nights,
for which he was knighted, his translation of The Perfumed Garden, and his original Sufi poem,
The Kasidah.

He was an extraordinary character and after his death his wife in a wild fit burned
most of his papers -- its a fantastic read of an amazing life in a wondrous time and he more than
rose to the occasion. A prototype for a James Bond type character.

And a special mention of Isabel, Lady Burton, who is also worth reading at:

A Real Rough Customer --
Harry St. John Bridger Philby,CIE. Born at St. John's, Badulla, Ceylon, now called Sri Lanka,
and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. Philby is one of the lesser known but most
influential persons in the modern history of the Middle East. As he states in his autobiography,
he "became something of a fanatic" and "the first Socialist to join the Indian Civil Service,"
and was stationed in Lahore in the Punjab in 1908. He became fluent in Urdu,Punjabi, Baluchi
and Persian and some Arabic languages.

Percy Cox chief political officer of the small British Mesopotamian expeditionary force, recruited
Philby as head of the financial branch of the British administration in Baghdad a job which included
fixing compensation for property and business owners. Their covert mission for which they were
tasked was twofold: One to organize an Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks, and Two; To protect
the oilfields near Basra and the waterway Shatt al Arab which was the only source access for oil for
the Royal Navy. The revolt was organized with the promise of creating a unified Arab state, at British

At British Military Intelligence his first controller was Gertrude Bell, 1868-1926 was born in Washington,
in what was then Co. Durham, but, when she was very young, she moved with her family to Redcar.
She was educated first of all at home, and then at school in London; finally, in a time when it was not
at all
usual for a woman to have a university education, she went to Oxford to read history, and, at the age
of twenty and after only two years study, she left with a first-class degree.

It was Gertrude Bell who taught Philby the finer arts of espionage.

St. John Philby married his first wife in September 1910, In 1945 at the age of sixty he purchased his second wife, a 16-year-old girl, from a slave market. His son Harold "Kim" Philby, was called Kim after the character in the book by the same name by Rudyard Kipling.

Kim Philby, following in his father's footsteps is believed to have done the most damage to British
and American intelligence, providing classified information to the Soviet Union that caused the deaths
of scores of agents.

Philby was in a race to explore the Sind, for the British to secure the oil fields, in a backdoor deal he
gave the location to Standard Oil.

And so another public spectacle, in the name of truth, at the special Waxman Hearing comes to a close for today
it lifted the lid on a lawless, power mad group of evil people, indifferent to the rule of law, the fairness doctoring
and whose shameful "stop at nothing" hold over our world peace, peace of mind, economy, health and welfare --
reveals a box full of cockroaches scurrying over one another to get away from the light.
